A few weeks ago, John Cena returned to Raw to celebrate his 20th anniversary with WWE.

Despite that appearance, it looks like fans will have to wait for him to win another title.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter,

Cena will "almost certainly" make an appearance at SummerSlam later this year.

Meltzer revealed that Cena is not being advertised for any future shows.

This is a strong indication that WWE is not expecting a match from Cena anytime soon.

There was some belief that Cena would face Austin Theory.

Eventually, the latter edged out the former in an off-air promo.

Unfortunately though, it is not so.

Of course, this is bad news for fans who wanted to see Cena at SummerSlam.

Cena has been a fan favorite in the WWE universe for nearly two decades.
