For the second time since last month, misfortune ended Jimmy Johnson's race on the IndyCar Series.

On lap 84 of 110 of today's Portland Grand Prix, Johnson's number 48 car was contacted by Rinus VK,

Who put his car in the wall.

Video replays reveal that VK inexplicably turned to Johnson to make contact.

The accident resulted in caution for the entire race course.

It has to be seen whether VK gets any kind of punishment for his actions.

This is the fourth time this season that Johnson will not be able to complete a race.

Four weeks earlier, he hit a wall at the Music City Grand Prix to finish 18th.

Although that hit was a little less loud than that.

Racing fans are heartbroken for Johnson and angry at VK over this:

The learning curve in the IndyCar Series has proven to be slightly steeper for Jimmy Johnson than in NASCAR.

While he has made major improvements over the last season,

He's not dominating at all like he did in his last NASCAR season either.

Johnson has two top 10 finishes - sixth in the XPEL 375 and a career-best fifth on the 250.

He is on pace to finish with twice the number of points he scored last season

There's one more race in the IndyCar Series this season:

Monterey's Firestone Grand Prix in California next week.

Will Jimmy Johnson finish the season reliably?
