Earlier today, Drew Locke was announced as the Seahawks' starting quarterback for his second preseason game this Thursday night.

Unfortunately, something out of his control will prevent him from playing.

Moments after Seattle declared him a starter, Locke tested positive for COVID-19.

He cannot play on Thursday night.

An unfortunate blow for Locke, who is currently battling Geno Smith for the team's starting quarterback gig.

"A huge opportunity was lost for Drew Locke, who had to start in the QB.

Competing with Geno Smith," Ed Vedder said.

"Seahawks News - Covid Curveball Minutes After Named Starter for Second Seahawks Precision Game,

QB Drew Lock tests positive for COVID 19.

Geno Smith will likely start on Thursday for Seattle vs Chicago," wrote Sports by Chris Clough.

Tyler Jones said, "Tough break for Locke after getting a first-team rep at #Seahawks practice today."

"Geno Smith just won the job," said Dave "Softy" Mahler..

"Not having many pre-season games could be a wrap for Locke to be a starter, especially if Geno plays well on Thursday night.....", said one fan.

Unfortunately, Locke may have lost his chance to become a Seahawks Week 1 starter.

If Geno Smith does well on Thursday night vs. the Bears,

Pete Carroll may want to name a starting quarterback sooner rather than later and Smith is the obvious choice.
