NFL World Reacts To Tuesday's 49ers Quarterback News

The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly signing veteran quarterback Kurt Benkert to their practice squad, according to NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo.

Benkert worked with the Niners on Tuesday after suffering an ankle injury to Trey Lance last weekend.

Via stints as backup for the Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers,

Benkert has become a fan favorite all around the league.

The NFL world took to Twitter to react to the news.

"I can't believe I'm about to buy Niners gear," wrote one fan.

"Can't say enough about the human and the competitor that is @KurtBenkert!!

Absolutely love this dude and nothing more than wishing him well,” said another.

"Obviously the 49ers need unfortunate circumstances around the QB, but happy for Kurt!" Said another.

Benkert himself responded to the news.

"I am very grateful man," he wrote on Twitter.

With Lance out, Benkert will now serve as a third-string substitute behind starter Jimmy Garoppolo and primary backup Brock Purdy.

Benkert, 27, first joined the NFL ranks in 2018 as an undrafted free agent.
