A strong NFL preseason doesn't always guarantee a roster spot.

Chris Streweler led the New York Jets to three comeback victories in several exhibition games.

He went 24-in-33 for 277 passing yards, five touchdowns, one interception, and a team-high 71 rushing yards.

It wasn't enough to be around.

ESPN's Adam Schefter said the Jets still plan to cut the former Canadian Football League quarterback ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline.

As noted by many spectators, football is a brutal sport.

However, the 27-year-old probably gave himself a chance elsewhere.

According to the team's site, Jets head coach Robert Saleh said that Stewler had "one of the greatest preseasons in the history of football."

Yet he was always fighting an uphill battle to make the team.

Despite the scorching heat of the traveller, the move isn't too shocking.

Jets veteran Joe Flacco is running in to start the season in place of Zach Wilson.

Straveler would have taken the roster spot from Mike White,

The one who troubled the Jets with 405 passing yards at the Cincinnati Bengals last Halloween

And three touchdowns.

It'll always be a magical August, at least for Jets fans to remember.
