The NFL is a brutal place for kickers.

On Sunday, Rodrigo Blankenship missed what would have been a 42-yard field goal in a 20-20 tie between the Indianapolis Colts.

and Houston Texans. The Colts wasted little time forgiving him on Tuesday.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Blankenship is a free agent after being unclaimed.

After making all 200 extra-point attempts for Georgia, Blankenship had a great start to his NFL career.

He made 32 field-goal attempts out of 37 in 2020 with just one miss from within 40 yards.

However, a hip injury limited him to five matches last year.

After missing two field goals (and an extra point) in his final game, Blankenship's success rate fell to 78.6 percent.

Perhaps this contributed to the Colts' quick hook.

Blankenship made field goals out of 27 and 45 yards in Week 1.

The Colts added Chase McLaughlin and Lukas Havrisic to their practice squad on Tuesday.

One of those kickers will be activated for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Blankenship himself was seen practicing at the Indianapolis Sports Complex on Wednesday morning.
