Nebraska wants to make a fresh start away from Scott Frost.

Saturday's 45-42 loss to Georgia Southern prompted the football program to sack the head coach at the start of its fourth season.

According to Jimmy Watkins of the World-Herald Sports, following Sunday's dismissal,

Cornhuskers defensive end Ochaun Mathis commented on what needed to change.

"Our belief system. A losing culture is underway," Mathis said.

"Many people don't know what winning looks like at this point.

So just working, just gaining trust for each other."

This is not a new experience for TCU Transfer.

Last year, Gary Patterson resigned mid-season after two decades as head coach of the Horned Frogs.

They were 3-5 before his exit and split their final four games behind Jerry Hill.

Nebraska has suffered all 11 single-digit losses since the start of 2021.

The Huskers have a plus-78 scoring margin during that stretch, despite scoring only four wins.

Perhaps Frost's teams suffered a terrible string of misfortunes,

But it became too frequent to ignore the pattern after the Sun Belt lost to the Eagles as a 23.5-point favorite at Lincoln.

Interim head coach Mickey Joseph will be tasked with instilling a winning mindset in Nebraska.

He will begin next weekend by facing No. 6 Oklahoma.
