Earlier this offseason, NFL insider Josina Anderson suggested that the Seattle Seahawks were interested in Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.

However, while on The Pat McAfee Show earlier today,

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport claimed that the Seahawks haven't really shown that much interest in the former No. 1 overall pick.

Twice a year is when you get an internet rumor that takes its own life," Rapoport said.

"And trust me, I always check. But I haven't heard anything to confirm Baker to the Seahawks at all.

It sounds crazy to me, but they've never really been interested in Baker."

Well, Rapoport's report caught Anderson's attention tonight. She is doubling down on her original report, claiming that the Seahawks were very interested in Mayfield.

This is wrong," she said. "Although I can see why it might be necessary to release it now: 1.)

In case the Seahawks don't get Baker Mayfield. 2.) Because if #1 happens, it helps to manage the way forward with their current situation. 3.)

They're still trying to figure out how I knew/heard!"

We may never really know if the Seahawks were interested in Mayfield.

However, he should have at least looked at the prospect of trading for the former No. 1 overall pick.

While Mayfield will never be a top-10 quarterback in the NFL, he is clearly superior to Drew Locke and Geno Smith at this stage of his career.
