With Week 1 approaching, Lamar Jackson has yet to sign a long-term extension with the Baltimore Ravens.
Whether or not the star quarterback gets a new deal before the season begins, Jackson is set to play this weekend.
According to ESPN's Jamison Hensley, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Jackson has no intention of sitting out, regardless of his contract status.
"Lamar has said that he is focused on the season, he is under contract and he can have the best season," Harbaugh said at Monday's practice.
“He is looking forward to getting a new contract and we are looking forward to getting him a new contract.
Everything else is business.
There's nothing more to do than come to something that is mutually agreed upon."
Jackson, who represents himself, has previously identified Week 1 as his cutoff point for negotiating a new deal.
Harbaugh had no idea about the 2019 MVP's interactions with the organization.
"I don't have any updates," Harbaugh said. "My interactions with Lamar have been purely football.
He's focused on that on and off from the football point of view, 100 percent."
Harbaugh expects a deal to be struck before Jackson's deadline, but time is running out.
In the off-season, Deshan Watson, Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford, Derek Carr, Kyler Murray,
And Russell Wilson receives new deals this off-season.
While it is not often that a superstar quarterback fulfills his contract and tests the open market,
Jackson may be heading towards that scenario.
Either way, Jackson will take the field this Sunday at 1 p.m. to face the New York Jets. ET.
