Jaguars Released Veteran Quarterback On Friday

The Jacksonville Jaguars released veteran quarterback Jake Luton on Friday.

In the same move, the team pardoned kicker Jake Verity and linebacker Grant Morgan.

Luton's release EJ Perry as the only active quarterback for tomorrow's presidency finale against the Atlanta Falcons,

And primary backup CJ Beathard is not expected to play.

Luton was picked by the Jags as a sixth-round pick in the 2020 draft.

Through three active games in Jacksonville (all in 2020), the 26-year-old QB covered 624 yards,

Two touchdowns and six interceptions on the way to a 0-3 record.

Perry, an unfinished rookie from this year's class, will replace Luton as the reserve quarterback substitute for the Jaguars.

The Jags will kickoff against the Falcons in their preseason finale tomorrow at 3 p.m. ET.

The NFL's final 53-man roster deadline is this coming Tuesday.
