Summer League provides a special opportunity for rookies to show off their skills.

Unfortunately, this comes with a huge injury risk.

Detroit Pistons rookie Jaden Ivey left the Summer League fight between the Pistons and Washington Wizards on Saturday with a potentially significant injury.

The former Purdue star twisted his ankle very poorly while being fouled in a three-point attempt.

A major foul was called.

Ivey slammed the scorers' table in desperation before heading to the free-throw line, thwarting all three attempts and exiting the game with the trainers.

"Uh, oh. Jaden Ivey sprained his ankle. Fouled by 3. He's in a ton of pain.

Hobby and need help. He told Brink, 'I'm going to shoot the free throw' as he left," James Edwards said.

"An injured Jaden Ivy is ruled out of the game with an ankle injury.

After a terrifying foul by Isaiah Todd, he slammed the scorers table with his hand and made all three free-throws before leaving for the roaring crowd.

Get well soon, Ivey," Clutch Points wrote.

It's a shame, considering how well Ivey was playing before the injury.

They got 11 points in five minutes of play.

"Jaden Ivey in just 5 minutes of play: 11 pts 2-2 FG 6-6 FT Hope ankle is fine," Statmuse said.

Get well, Jaden. Hope the ankle gets better soon.
