New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom suffered a major setback in his recovery last weekend.

DeGrom reportedly experienced muscle pain in his shoulder on Sunday.

As a result, the Mets are pushing back their mock game on Thursday.

The news: Jacob deGrom experienced mild muscle pain around his shoulder on Sunday.

He played catches on Monday and Tuesday with no problem, but the Mets kicked off their fake game on Thursday 'out of an abundance of caution,'"

Anthony DiComo said.

It's plausible that the Mets may decide that DeGrom needs to start another rehab.

It will ultimately depend on how this rest of the week goes.

The good news is that DeGrome was playing catch-outs on Monday and Tuesday, reports DiComo.

So he is at least healthy enough to be engaged in baseball activities.

The Mets have World Series aspirations,

So they're not going to get the degrom back into action too soon.

New York kicked off the All-Star break with a series against the San Diego Padres.

Which is starting from this Friday.
