When the San Francisco 49ers' playoff run ended in late January,

It was believed that Jimmy Garoppolo would trade during the off-season.

Well, he's still on his roster in the last weekend of August.

With the final roster until August 30, the 49ers will have to make an important decision on Garoppolo.

Judging by the latest report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport,

It doesn't look like trading an experienced quarterback is an option.

Rapoport said there are no business partners for Garoppolo at this time.

"Obviously, he's not their future quarterback. He's made it pretty clear that it's going to be Trey Lance," Rapoport said.

"Are the 49ers going to be able to trade him and his $20-plus million salary?

My understanding is a business partner, some quarterback doesn't exist for lack of injury."

Rapoport said San Francisco's options are to either cut Garoppolo or "somehow, somehow" keep him on the roster.

During the 2021 season, Garoppolo completed 68.3 percent of his pass attempts for 3,810 yards with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

The 49ers have enjoyed much of the team's success with Garoppolo at quarterback.

Somehow, the Jimmy Garoppolo saga will end next week.
