As expected, five-star power forward GG Jackson has dropped from North Carolina after pledging nearly three months for the program.
Jackson, a South Carolina native, is widely expected to commit to an in-state gamecock at some point in the near future.
Overall No. 2 recruitment in the 2023 category,
He will reportedly enroll at the University of South Carolina early and be fit for the next season.
The first step towards doing this was to retreat from the tar heels,
Joe Jackson did on Instagram a while back.
"Thanks to Coach Hubert Davis and the UNC Basketball staff for recruiting me and giving me the opportunity to play for their university,"
“My family has been by my side since my birth and has been the biggest supporter of my life by guiding me in the right direction.
“I decided to explore other options from UNC that can help me grow from a teenage boy to an adult and put me in the best position to reach my dream goal,
Which is the NBA."
By reclassification, Jackson will be part of the first recruiting class of new head coach Lamont Paris in South Carolina.
In addition to landing Jackson and two other high school prospects,
Paris hit the transfer portal heavily in its attempt to rebuild the programme.
