Drake London's presidency debut ended early due to a knee injury.

The rookie wide receiver abandoned Saturday's game after a 24-yard grab from Marcus Mariota.

The No. 8 pick missed Sunday's practice, and the Atlanta Falcons won't bring him back to the field.

Head coach Arthur Smith told reporters that London would probably not be practicing this week.

But they are not too worried about his injury.

As an Associated Press report, Smith said, "there's nothing that we're really worried about long term."

"We'll be smart. He had a really good training camp.

We hope to have everyone back by the time the regular season resumes."

Smith said he would "assess it week-by-week" before determining whether London would play one of Atlanta's remaining two President's games.

London accumulated 1,084 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in seven games, before an ankle fracture ended his season and USC career.

As a result, the Falcons can take extra precautions with the 21-year-old.

Yet London could quickly emerge as Atlanta's top wide receiver if he recovers.

Calvin Ridley will be sitting out for the entire 2022 season after being suspended for betting on NFL games.

And Russell Gage signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this off-season.

The Falcons will hope that London will be ready in time for the September 11 first season against the New Orleans Saints.
