ESPN's Adam Schefter shared on Friday the news about the San Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell.
The second-year NFL back is currently battling a hamstring injury.
It's never good news for retreats at this time of year. This puts Mitchell's position in jeopardy for the first week.
However, according to Schaffter, the 49ers are expected to be ready for the season opener on September 11.
With this it is being said that Mitchell will not play during the preseason.
"49ers' RB Elijah Mitchell is battling a hamstring injury that will likely prevent him from playing in the preseason, according to a league source.
Michelle is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season," Schaffter wrote.
Elijah Mitchell shows no signs of being a rookie in 2021. He rocked 207 times for 963 yards in 11 games.
He also made 19 catches and one extra score for 137 yards.
His availability in Week 1 is going to have significant implications for fantasy football owners.
If he is unavailable, Jeff Wilson Jr., Trey Cerman and Tyrion Davis-Price will likely split carries.
“Eliza Mitchell has a hamstring injury. Running back injury bug starts for #49ers.
They should be ready for week 1 as per @AdamSchefter," said Rohan Chakraborty.
One fan wrote, "Eliza Mitchell is battling a hamstring injury. This guy can't catch a break."
"RB Eliza Mitchell didn't practice on Wednesday -
And although an apparent hamstring injury is not expected to shelter him for the opener,
It's an ominous reminder of last season's injuries, through which he led the 49ers while running as a rookie," Cam Inman wrote.
Talent has never been under question in relation to Elijah Mitchell. Unfortunately, it has durability.
Mitchell is expected to recover in time for the September 11 vs. Chicago Bears season opener.
