Duke Announces Tough Injury News For Former 5-Star Recruit

One of Duke basketball's most talked-about recruits underwent foot surgery on Tuesday.

According to the schedule, freshman forward Darik Whitehead had a successful surgery to repair a fracture in his right leg,

Which reportedly happened during a team workout the day before.

In a statement to John Shire, the Blue Devils head coach said he is "confident" Whitehead will not be out for long.

We are happy to report that Darik completed a successful process today,

And is in the best care with our doctors and rehabilitation staff. We are sure that he will be back on the court very soon.

Whitehead was named the 2022 Naismith High School Player of the Year from Monteverde Academy in Florida.

The five-star recruit led the school to back-to-back national championships, averaging 17.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.
