Friday's college football playoff expansion news has resulted in mixed reactions from the sports world.

But for the most part, fans and analysts seem happy with the Switch.

In fact, college football analyst Danny Kanell thinks the decision was long overdue.

"It's about time. #playoffexpansion," he wrote on Twitter.

During a meeting between the Board of Managers on Friday, CFP presidents unanimously voted to implement the 12-team postseason model.

The new format is expected to come into force in 2026, but could be rolled out in 2024 or early 2025.

This long-awaited extension news has been in the news for quite some time.

The CFP committee made significant progress in talks last year and ultimately failed to agree on a new format.
