There is an old saying in football that if you have two quarterbacks, you have none.
On Saturday, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh revealed his decision on the Wolverines starting the QB job.
But that doesn't necessarily create any more clarity...
"We have taken a decision," Harbagh said in a statement. "Both quarterbacks have played brilliantly -
They did everything they could and, by all means, to win the starting job. ,
I feel like we have two quarterbacks, Cade McNamara and J.J. McCarthy,
That we feel very confident that we can win the championship with either of those two behind the centre."
"So we're not ready to say who's going to start quarterback," Harbaugh continued.
"But the decision we've made is that Cade McNamara will open the opener...
and JJ McCarthy will start the second ball game ... we will decide on starter and backup in the third week."
The college football world reacted to Michigan's gameplan on Saturday.
"Now this is a real QB fight," tweeted Logan Carney.
"Michigan's program this year was always going to set up an opportunity for something like this," said Nicole Orbach of The Athletic.
"Jim Harbaugh going into quarterback with a unique approach," commented Jason Lewis
Fangirl Sports founder Tracy Sandler responded, "It seems like the decision isn't really about making a decision."
Both QBs will have a chance to lead Michigan on their Big Ten title defense.
