Wide receiver Denzel Mims requests a trade from the New York Jets.

Brian Costello of the New York Post shared a statement from Mims' agent Ron Slavin saying it's "just in time".

Off to a fresh start after two seasons with the organization.

"Denzel has tried in good faith, but it is clear he has no future with the Jets," Slavin said.

"Denzel vowed to come back better than ever this season, and he worked very hard off-season to make that happen.

Yet, he has not been given any opportunity to work with the opening offense to get into a groove with him."

Slavin said he sees a trade as "our only option" because the organization has refused to release him.

He called General Manager Joe Douglas to honor his client's request.

"Joe Douglas has always done right by Denzel,

And we believe he will do everything in his power to find him another team where Denzel can be a contributor."

59 pick in 2020, Mims has 31 receptions for 490 yards in 20 career games with the Jets.

After his rookie campaign was interrupted by a hamstring injury, he had two healthy bruises last September before hurting his finger in the eighth week.

Mims did not take any catch in his last four out of the 11 matches he played.

The Jets have continued to hone their wide receivers since drafting the Mims.

As well as making Elijah Moore the number 34 pick last year,

He invested the No. 10 selection on Garrett Wilson this April.

Even if they honor the Mims' trade request, Moore, Wilson and Corey Davis figure to lead Gang Green's wideout in 2022.

Braxton Berrios also saw an increase in goal at the end of last season, while the Mims remained in the latter.

If the Jets shop memes, another team will bite on the 24-year-old,

who scored 28 touchdowns in his final three seasons at Baylor.
