The Dallas Cowboys have one more job they must do before the 2022 season.

Per Bleacher Report, the Cowboys should sign Dalton Schultz for an extension before the start of the next campaign.

"Last season, Schultz finished in the top five among tight ends with 78 receptions and eight touchdown catches.

He also produced the highest passing grade in his position, targeting 20 or more yards downfield.

According to Pro Football Focus. His continued development deserves to be rewarded after being a fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft."

Unfortunately, the two sides may not be close on a long-term contract extension.

The good news is that there is plenty of time to make things work.

"I want to work on a long-term deal and I think they do too,

Schultz told reporters in April. "Hopefully we can get it done.

But knowing where I'm going next year, I'm happy."

Schultz has emerged as one of the Cowboys' top offensive weapons over the past two seasons.

Last year, he caught 78 passes for 808 yards and eight touchdowns in 17 games.

It's plausible that the Cowboys want Schultz to prove his worth

For the third time in this upcoming season. But players usually don't take it very well.

It will be interesting to see how the NFC East franchise handles this.
