San Francisco 49ers veteran Eric Armstead suffered a knee injury during the team's first day of training camp on Wednesday.

On Friday, head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that his eighth year of defensive

End has been diagnosed and the MCL sprains and will be in remission for at least the next few weeks.

Fortunately for the Niners, the injury is not considered serious.

According to The Mercury News, Shanahan said, "It's not something we're very concerned about, but it will take him some time."

"He thought it was just an injury, because it didn't hurt him that much,

But after a while he was in pain, then had an MRI, so we have to put him out for a bit."

Armstead was injured during the second snap of full-team practice on Wednesday.

As a result, he missed practice on both Thursday and Friday.

Armstead is coming off one of the best seasons of his NFL career.

Through 17 starts in 2021, the 28-year-old DE made a career-high 63 tackles and 6.0 sacks -

Hopefully Armstead is able to recover quickly and return to the field for the 49ers as soon as possible.
