In January, four-star defensive back Elliot Washington committed to Alabama.

On Friday, however, he announced that he was breaking his commitment.

Washington, a Florida native, has decided to take his talents to Penn State.

He announced the move on his Twitter account.

"I want to thank the University of Alabama, Coach Saban,

Coach Gillesp and Coach T. Robb for your time and effort during my recruitment," Washington wrote.

"After I've explored all options during my hiring process, I will be relieved of the University of Alabama.

After further conversations with my family, I will... commit to Pennsylvania State University. 1000% committed."

Per 247Sports' overall ranking, Washington has a total of 110 recruits and No. 6 defenses from the 2023 class.

Washington is Penn State's 16th commitment to the 2023 recruitment cycle.

This announcement has come at the right time for Nitney Lions.

Earlier this week, he lost four-star quarterback Marcus Stokes to the Florida Gators.

He wanted some good news.

It will be interesting to see what Washington's career plays out at Penn State.
