The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been plagued by injuries this year and as a result their team reached the playoffs as 8-9 division champions. But ahead of tonight’s playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys, they are ready for a massive boost on offense.
According to Peter Schrager of NFL Network, the Bucs are activating Pro Bowl center Ryan Jensen for tonight’s game. Jensen did not play at all in the regular season but the team decided not to completely shut him down.
Tampa Bay’s offense was unusually toothless this season. They were 25th in scoring this season and were below 20 points an astonishing 10 times. That’s twice as many as Tom Brady combined in the last two seasons.
Going up against a Dallas Cowboys defense that ranks fifth in scoring and top 10 against the pass, the Buccaneers need all the help they can get.
If it’s any consolation, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers go into this game with a lot of momentum and some history.
The Bucs won their Week 18 game against the Atlanta Falcons and looked good doing so, while the Cowboys fell to earth in a disappointing loss to the Washington Commanders. Recent form is definitely looking in Tampa Bay’s favor.
Additionally, two of the last three teams entering the playoffs with losing records won their wild card round. The outsiders were Washington, whom Tampa Bay defeated en route to winning the 2020 Super Bowl.
The game will be played at 8:15 p.m. ET and will air on ABC.
