Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks found himself in a shouting match with Fox Sports’ Shannon Sharpe during Friday’s game against the Lakers.
Crypto.com Arena officials and the security team finally had to break up Friday night’s brawl.
After the loss to the Grizzlies, Brooks was asked whether it was appropriate for Sharp to have a verbal spat with the team.
“A regular pedestrian like him? No,” Brooks replied, “He should have never gotten back in the game. But this is L.A.”
Brooks referred to Sharpe as “Blogger” during his postgame media session.
“I’m not talking about that,” he replied when asked about the exchange with Sharpe. “You can ask him. He’s a blogger or whatever. I don’t really care about all that. Next question.”
Meanwhile, Sharp opened up about the incident during a halftime interview with ESPN.
“They didn’t want this smoke, Dave,” said Sharp. “They’re doing all that talking and joking and I’m not about that joking. It started with Dillon Brooks. I said he was too young to defend LeBron. He said, ‘F— Me.’ I said, ‘F— you’ back. He started coming over to me, and I said, ‘You don’t want these problems.’ And then Ja came out of nowhere talking. He definitely didn’t want these problems. Then dad came and apparently he didn’t want any problems.
It was tough for Brooks on Friday night, shooting 4 of 17 from the field. To make matters worse, the Grizzlies’ 11-game winning streak came to an end.
